Due to unforeseen circumstances our Autumn 1 newsletter will be delayed in going out and will be posted the first week back after half term.
We hope you have a good half term and we look forward to seeing you all back on the 29th October for our next ‘Charter Day’. Please note that there will be a slightly later start (10.15am) for students for this day only.
The academy vision is to prepare our pupils for a successful, fulfilling and happy life where they make a positive contribution within their communities. At Ark Charter Academy, we believe that excellent preparation for examinations will ensure that all pupils will have the best opportunities to achieve their target grades, in return, enabling them to go onto the courses of their choice in one of the local colleges or for our current sixth form students, onto university or the world of work upon completion of school at age 18.
To ensure correct preparedness we have 2 full mock examination periods for pupils in Years 11 & 13. These examinations are sat under full examination conditions with external invigilators and unseen papers. Years 7, 8, 9 & 10 have 3 assessment periods where there is a mix of formal and classroom based assessments to support the development of exam techniques and skills.
Pupils in Years 11 & 13 are expected to spend extra time at the academy out of normal school hours to fully prepare for upcoming examinations. Parents can support this by reinforcing the importance of attendance at these days and workshops, as well as supporting their child to make full use of their revision timetables. We encourage students to purchase revision guides and every teacher will be able to recommend the best revision guides to use for their subjects.
The final summer examination series starts in May 2018 for written exams, but some pupils will be completing practical elements under exam conditions from as early as February 2018. A full examination timetable will be published on the website when it becomes available.
