World Book Day 2017

Ark Charter Academy launched our new drive for literacy today with World Book Day 2017. Staff across the academy dressed up as their favourite book characters from Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox to Michael Bond’s Paddington Bear to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. Science housed some of Dodie Smith’s 101 Dalmatians hiding from Cruella de Ville and there were a number of sightings of Where’s Wally? in the Humanities Department. Throughout the day there was a hubble bubble of intrigue as students found out who was who and which book they are from.  A huge number of students took part in a competition to win £25 worth of book vouchers. Ark Charter Academy’s brand new Word Up! programme will be bringing a whole host of exciting events to celebrate the joy of reading and next up is our Scholastic Book Fair. Students have been and will be receiving book tokens to spend between 21-27 March each afternoon in Ark Charter Academy Library. These books are at incredibly discounted prices starting from £2 (only £1 with students’ FREE World Book Day token). See you there!
