Academy commemorates Armistice Day
Monday 14 November 2016
On Friday the nation commemorated Armistice Day, remembering those who have fallen and honouring those who serve to protect us. The two minute silence was observed by Mr Barnes, Principal (Interim), staff and students at Charter Academy today with the help of its Combined Cadet Force. It was a poignant moment to reflect and remember fallen servicemen and women in conflicts past and present.
A member of our music department played the Last Post after Callum Tickner (Sixth Form), Head Boy, read the words synonymous with Remembrance Day:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
