Mr Barnes steps down as Principal of Charter Academy
Tuesday 06 March 2018
It is with sadness that we must announce that Mr Barnes has taken the decision to step down from his position as Principal of Charter Academy.
Mr Barnes has worked tirelessly over the last nine years, both as Vice Principal and more recently Principal, to help transform the Academy in to the beacon of excellence it has become, being pivotal in the many successes the Academy has seen.
The role of Principal can be an all consuming one and Mr Barnes has balanced the needs of students and staff at Charter with those of caring for his elderly father for a number of years now, but as his father enters his nineties, Mr Barnes has taken the difficult decision to relinquish his role at Charter in order to devote himself to caring for his father full time, as well as spending more time with his own children.
Everyone at Charter Academy respects and admires Mr Barnes’ commitment to his family and thank him for the dedication he has shown to the students and staff during his years here.
Our Associate Principal, Mr Masters, has agreed to take up the role of Acting Principal for the remainder of this academic year at the request of Ark. Mr Masters joined Charter in 2012 and has a wealth of experience to bring to his new role.
A decision will be taken on a permanent appointment to the role of Principal at Charter in due course.
