On March 14th we had a belated World Book Day visit from author, poet and playwright, Miriam Halahmy. Miriam shared with us the ideas behind several of her stories, including Always Here For You (how do you know the person you are talking to online is who they say they are?) and Hidden (what could we/would we/should we do to help a half-drowned man fleeing torture, terror and war?). We learnt that every story should have a 'heartbeat', and every narrative is driven by a problem which must be solved. (Miriam likes to give her characters very difficult problems!). Almost all our year sevens volunteered to read aloud an extract from one of Miriam's books - very courageous. It was a lovely visit, thank you, Miriam.
