International Women's Day

Yesterday being International Women’s Day was a great way to recognise all the hard work that’s going on at Ark Charter Academy….

We are extremely proud of our very own Mrs Reed-Birks, who was invited to an event by the Lady Mayoress yesterday at Portsmouth Guildhall to celebrate International Women’s Day. Mrs Reed-Birks was presented with a certificate commemorating the work she has done for our school and community so far, with particular emphasis on the opening of the Jonathan Centre. She has big plans of how we can use the centre to support not just our students, but also our families and wider-community too, by providing access to different services, training courses and support groups.

The future is looking bright and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!

From our Lady Mayoress;

"As Lady Mayoress it has been my aim to highlight the great work women do in our city. Over the year I've met so many brilliant women and I wanted to invite as many as I could to an event to mark International Women's Day. (If it were possible I would have filled the Guildhall). In the parlour today there were women who are educators, work with those that have faced abuse, volunteers, mental health champions, community engagers, campaigners, charity workers, event planners, creator's to name just a few. All your work doesn't go unnoticed and Portsmouth is incredibly lucky to have you all".
