Behaviour
We want life at school to be enjoyable for every pupil. Pupils should be able to appreciate their lessons and make friends in a calm, friendly environment. We want to encourage good behaviour and discourage behaviour that undermines learning or confidence between pupils or pupils and staff.
We acknowledge good behaviour with praise and great behaviour with real rewards. We will impose consistent, clear and unavoidable sanctions for unacceptable behaviour. We will ensure that, whenever possible, pupils understand the consequences of choosing not to follow the behaviour policy and ensure that opportunities exist for pupils to learn to manage their behaviour in order to develop their moral compass.

How we ensure the school is a safe and supportive environment for all
Anti-bullying
At our Academy we have a policy of prevention. Preventing bullying is far easier than responding to incidents when they occur. To prevent bullying, we promote a common anti-bullying approach in which we are supportive of each other, provide positive role models and shared values, and are clear that we will not tolerate unacceptable behaviour.
If bullying is suspected or reported, the incident will be dealt with immediately by the member of staff who has been approached. We will record a clear account of the incident and share this with the parent/carer and the Head of School. We will support affected pupils by offering immediate and continuous support with a member of staff of their choice, working to restore self-esteem and confidence. We'll work with pupils guilty of bullying by discussing what happened and explaining why it was wrong, understanding why they became involved, and creating a strategy for change together with the pupil's parent/carer.
If you are concerned that your child could be experiencing bullying, please let us know as soon as you can and we will work together to resolve the situation.

Ark Charter Academy – E-Safety
Website – Digital Safety
At Ark Charter Academy we take the online safety of our children seriously. On this page you will find several helpful documents with advice on keeping your children safe online, we’d recommend taking a look. If you have any further questions or concerns please contact our safeguarding team.
Our pupils are growing up in a world of ever-changing technology. While we feel that the use of technology is a largely positive aspect of modern life, we cannot ignore the risks that can be associated.
Throughout school we aim to teach children:
-
about the impact of cyber-bullying and what to do if they have been affected.
-
to be vigilant when communicating online recognising that people may not always be who they say they are and to be sensible about what they share.
-
to tell an adult they trust if something is upsetting them.
-
to question the reliability of information given through a web based source.
-
to search responsibly for information while using internet browsers.
-
We understand that much of our pupil's use of the internet will occur at home, away from the school filters.
Monitoring and Filtration Systems
At Ark Charter Academy we use the following systems to ensure our children are safe when they are using in school hardware and their one-one issued Chromebook and are online.
What is SENSO?
Senso is a cloud-based system that collects and analyses data from pupils' internet activity on their Chromebook use at home and at school. This data includes websites visited, time spent on websites, and the types of searches conducted. Senso uses this data to identify potential online safety risks, such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, and exposure to harmful websites. Senso is a comprehensive tool that helps us monitor and enhance our online safety policies for pupils. Senso is now installed on all our pupil’s Chromebook devices and is live.
This is in line with our current ‘Parent Loan Agreement”: The school will monitor all activity on this device, and you must agree that you will not carry out or permit any activity that constitutes ‘unacceptable use’ as agreed in the acceptable use guidance, the online safety policy and remote education guidance.
How else do we protect students online?
