Mr Alvarez and Coach Phil took 2 teams to the Ark Academy Southern Conference basketball tournament.
Our expectations of trying their best and showing a growth mindset were on full show throughout the day. Both teams actually lost their first match but all players learnt from that experience and raised their performance in the next games.
This first team (black shirts) of Fola, Madison, Jesse, Seth, Zyan, Riley, Badrie and Aria, went from scoring 1 basket in their first game to 6 in their second, but after leading for a long period of the game they just lost out just at the end!
The second team (red shirts) of Danial, Olu, Praise, Oscar, Philip, Sanuja, Ethan and Habeeb, rallied to win their next 2 games which resulted in them being overall group winners!!!! This means they are moving on to compete with the other top North and South Division Teams!
The commitment these students have shown to their basketball development over the last year is testament to their success. In the same competition last year, although we improved game-on-game, we were unable to gain a victory. What a fantastic achievement by all the students, we are so proud!!!
